The Downtown Somerville Alliance (DSA) invites qualified artists to submit proposals for the creation of a life-size sculpture of Paul Robeson to be prominently displayed in downtown Somerville, NJ.
The DSA has been awarded a $34,000 Local Arts Programming Grant to erect a statue of Paul Robeson in the Downtown Somerville Special Improvement District.
Cre8 is part of the DSA’s ongoing initiative to integrate the arts into non-traditional venues, expand the reach of the arts, and broaden and diversify public exposure, interest in, and access to the arts.
In January the Downtown Somerville Alliance unveiled a new sculpture series on the historic Courthouse Green titled “Charm Field” by award winning, Brooklyn-based artists Adam Frezza and Terri Chiao, also known as Chiaozza.
