2nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration

Thursday, June 16th, the Somerset County Board of Commissioners is hosting their second Juneteenth Event from 6pm to 7pm on the County Courthouse Green. Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865 when Union General, Gordon Granger, rode to Texas to inform enslaved people of their freedom as stated by the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation. The Somerset County Board of Commissioners are excited to celebrate this historic day with the community and we’re proud that Downtown Somerville can serve as the backdrop for this event.
